Reaching Out, Part III

Reaching out…
to the children around us
πŸ‘«πŸ‘«πŸ‘«πŸ‘«πŸ‘«πŸ‘«πŸ‘«πŸ‘«πŸ‘«πŸ‘«
In today’s post I’m going to look at ways we help children around us, the rewards and stresses particularly in relation to our VBS that we just finished.

Bible School can be stressful, especially when you can’t find the kind of stickers you want until 20 minutes before it starts.

The reward of searching for stickers comes in seeing little girls taking a delight in decorating their own jars.

Bible School can be stressful when you are trying to make decorations on the day of. In short Bible School can be stressful when you don’t plan very far ahead.😜

The rewards of doing extra are paid off when children enjoy the things on the wall, love candy, (of course) and notice the little things.

Bible School can be stressful when your little bundles of energy want to turn around, stand up, talk, and everything else you don’t want them to do right now.

Bible School is rewarding when that little girl smiles up at you and says, “Otay” in that cute little way of hers.

Bible School can be stressful when you’re trying to keep everyone busy and calm and cheerful all at the same time.

Bible school is rewarding when you hear the children say, “ Miss Vanessa, thank you so much for being our teacher.” Just out of the blue.

Bible School can be stressful when you are trying to get everyone to hold still for a picture, and please keep their skirt down.

Bible School is rewarding when you hear your students give compliments and realize that in some things, children are far ahead of adults.

And when you can realize that you still have things to learn, that you’re both teaching, reaching for each other and you meet in the middle. You making a difference for them and they change you in some way. Stretching you, making you grow.
It truly is rewarding, and it’s what makes where you can look back on two weeks of crazy going away every night, early supper, hurried prep work, noisy children, and smile as you think of God looking down and smiling at the children singing praise to Him at the top of their lungs and all of us helping each other along, closer to Him. For we truly are walking each other home.

And now for our project of the day. Another neat way to entertain children is to get them to help you make puzzles for them.  This would probably work better with children 5+.

All you need is
a cardboard box (cereal box)
 scissors
markers
pencil

First cut out a rectangle of cardboard
Next you or the child draw a picture of…something😊.

Now cut the picture into pieces. Either puzzle shaped pieces or just random pieces.
Now it’s ready to be put back together againπŸ˜€.

There are many children around us whose  lives are in pieces. Let’s do what we can to help them pick up the pieces.

Click here to hear a song about Jesus the puzzle fixer.

And as a “mission” that you can have part in please pray for our church as we get ready to start our annual kids club, Goldminers. Thank you.
Blessings to you in the coming week as you reach out.

My new favorite quote “truly we are just walking each other home”. Vanessa, this is a very thoughtful post. Thanks for sharing your words with me.
