Cambodia

Then you, being rooted and grounded in love will have power, together with all the saints, to comprehend the length and width and height and depth of the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God...
Ephesians 3: 17-18

Cambodia

Choum reap sor, hello, today we are going to take a peek at Cambodia and think a little about God's deep love for us. Let's get started with few quick facts.

* Cambodia is a country in Asia.

*The capital of Cambodia is Phnom Penh.

* Over 1.5 million people live in Cambodia.

* The official language is Khmer.

*0.4% of the people are Christians.

* The Reila is the Cambodian currency.

* The Khmer Rouge, which was the communist ruling in Cambodia, lasted from 1975-1979.

* During that time nearly 2 million people died or were killed.

* Due to this most of the poupulation is under the age of 26.

This book tells the story of two individuals: Sat Pouv, a girl from Cambodia who experienced and survived the Khmer Rouge and Dennis Burfete an American boy who  doesn't want to follow anyones rules but his own.
MarJanita does a wonderful job of describing Sat Pouv and Dennis' lives before: in the darkness of not knowing God, and after: when they are lifted by God's love and come to know Jesus as their saviour.  And then they meet each other. :)
I know, I am not a very good book reviewer, but this is a really good book and does give a picture of life during the Khmer Rouge and after, and also of the lives some of the people around us live. It is a really good book. If you'd like to check it out click here.

There are many others like Sat Pouv who need to hear the good news about Jesus and His love for them.  Cambodian Ministries for Christ International (CMC International) is dedicated to spreading God's love to the Cambodians and encouraging the Christians who live there.  Their top priority is to support, encourage, and train native pastors, but they need help in accomplishing this goal. Your prayers and interest could be the key to bringing some soul to Christ. You can check out more of what they do or opportunities to help by clicking the link above.

God dearly loves both me and you
And it's His love we spread to other folks too
In words and in deeds with a smile or a prayer
We show God's deep love by showing we care.

In today's project I'm going to show you how to make your own travel games.

What you'll need:

Empty tin containers
(a bigger one for your games to be played in and smaller ones to hold the pieces)
Here we used a cookie tin
altoids containers
and a tic tac container

You'll also need paper
scissors,
glue,
old fridge magnets(or you can buy new ones)
a ruler

My sister "invented" these travel games and I did get to help a little. Basically what she did was cut out the colored paper so that it would fit into the cookie tin. Then decorated the back using stamps for the name and sharpie marker to make the grid. For the little pieces she put whit paper onto a magnet, stamped the x's and o's onto it and then cut it in squares. The perfect container for this, of course, is an empty tic tac pack. 😀 To play this game you'll put it in the tin so that the magnet pieces stick to the game board.

For this checkers game she glued in little black paper squares onto a red background.  For the checkers she painted part of the magnet black and part red and then cut them into little squares to fit into the spaces.

This last game that we have made is a memory game simply made by gluing green paper onto the backs of magnets and cutting squares.  Then using small stickers, two of each obviously, to make sets for the game. Lay them all face down and then play Memory.

There are probably lots of other games that you could make as well, but these are all that we have so far.

All the games fit inside the big tin. Happy game playing!

May you experience the fullness of God in the coming week.Goodbye, Choum reap lear.

Vanessa, thank you for giving your time to provide all this information on your blog. It is so helpful to know how we can pray for them and support them.

Loving the game ideas! :)
